Register for news updatesCommunity pitches in to deliver Domino improvements
In 2021 a severe storm impacted the Trentham area, including the much loved Domino Rail Trail in country Victoria. A local initiative, funded by a Victorian State Government Emergency Recovery grant, has recently seen the completion of a number of new features on the trail.
The Friends of Trentham Creeks & Reserves, along with local volunteers, contractors and members of the Trentham Men’s Shed have all contributed and worked together on the project.
Fallen trees from the trail were milled at a temporary Storm Recovery Mill in nearby Romsey and were repurposed and donated to the Friends Group. This enabled the Hepburn Shire Council to erect a number of beautiful new timber seats along the trail. New historical, environmental and directional signage has also been installed as part of the project.
Significant attention has also been paid to resolve an identified safety issue at the busy Falls Road intersection. Additional enhancements will include replica railway gates being installed at the end of the intersection with adjacent timber picket fences located to create safe entry and exit points.
Congratulations to all involved to create an improved experience on the trail which not only provides rest stops and informative information, it also addresses safety concerns for riders and walkers on the trail.
