After a successful 2024 community grants program, RTA has launched a new round for 2025.
RTA values the important role of community organisations in the establishment and success of many of Australia’s rail trails. RTA’s 2025 grants program has a pool of $10,000 to support volunteer community organisations to undertake activities which are aligned with RTA’s vision.
The grants will reimburse community organisations up to $2000 (without a co-contribution) or $4000 (with a substantial co-contribution) per rail trail for projects that:
– Support and foster community involvement in the development and promotion of rail trails across Australia
– Contribute to the physical improvement of rail trails, including improving access to rail trails by all members of the community
– Increase the usage of rail trails
– Enable the community to better understand and appreciate rail trails including the environmental, cultural and historical values of individual rail trails and their surroundings.
Community organisations are encouraged to discuss their project with the relevant rail trail manager and submit an application by Saturday 16 August 2025. For more information, access our Information Pack here. Grants are open now.
