A new amenities block on the Fernleigh Track rail trail in NSW will include an accessible toilet, two unisex toilets and bike racks nearby.
In a media release from Lake Maquarie City Council on 9 December 2020, design is underway on the $200,000 facility, which will be installed near the end of the Fernleigh Track at Belmont, off the Railway Parade car park.
The Fernleigh Track is one of a few rail trails already established in NSW, but with recent developments such as the opening of the Tumbarumba to Rosewood rail trail and passing of legislation in the NSW parliament to free up disused railway lines for recreational use, the local communities are very optimistic concerning the creation of new rail trails throughout NSW.
