Register for news updatesUnofficial Opening of O’Keefe Rail Trail Extension (Northern Victoria)
Following five years of hard work the Friends of the Bendigo Kilmore Rail Trail celebrated with an unofficial opening of the new 21km section from Axedale to Heathcote on Sunday 16th August.
A brief ceremony was held at Lake Eppalock with participants from the Friends Group, Mitchell Bicycle Users Group and Rail Trails Australia.
It is understood that the City of Bendigo will hold an official opening when connecting paths are established.
Rail Trails Australia congratulates the City of Bendigo, the Victorian Government and the Friends on the upgrade and extension to make this a major rail trail.
It is well worth a visit, especially now in spring.
