The Mitchell Shire, City of Greater Bendigo, and State Government have funded a feasibility study that is currently being conducted into the Wallan to Heathcote Rail Trail proposal. Wallan is on the northern outskirts of Melbourne and the proposed rail trail would connect with the O’Keefe Rail Trail at Heathcote.
Feedback from the general public is now being sought, from the ‘Engaging Mitchell’ web page, until 5pm Monday 10th April. You, your friends and family, may like to provide supportive feedback on this proposal, to possibly be part of a summarised inclusion in the feasibility study’s final report. A positive outcome from this study is necessary, and will be critical to enable the next stage of this proposal to take place i.e. attract funding for the construction phase(s) etc.
There will be community listening posts held, starting 22 Feb, with details on the ‘Engaging Mitchell’ web page, It is planned that Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail (FBKRT) and Mitchell Bicycle User Group (MBUG) reps will provide trail information material and responses, to assist the consultants, at each of these listening posts. You may be available to attend one of this opportunities, to find out more about the study and speak to the consultants?
