Some exciting news from Western Australia! The WA government has committed $17.5 million to completing the Wadandi Track (formerly known as the Busselton-Flinders Bay Rail Trail). When extended from 54km to 110km, this rail trail will undoubtedly become one of Australia’s most iconic rail trail experiences.
Bookended by the picturesque coastal towns of Busselton and Augusta, the Wadandi links a number of important inland settlements including Cowaramup, Margaret River, Witchcliffe, and Karridale. The announcement is welcome news for the rail trails community, who have been pushing for the completion of this trail for many years.
In addition to the Wadandi Track, the anouncement may see investment in potential rail trail extensions across the Pemberton and Peel regions.
