East Gippsland Rail Trail
Works on the trail from Bruthen to Nowa Nowa are progressing. A good trail should be constructed through to Stoney Creek by the second week in March, and it is hoped that the works should be complete to Nowa Nowa by the end of April.
The section from Nicholson to Bruthen has been upgraded with a gravel surface.
Kilcunda Trestle Bridge

The spectacular Kilcunda Trestle Bridge on the Bass Coast Rail Trail is now open for trail users. Modular decking (originally developed by the East Gippsland Rail Trail) have been placed on top of the bridge’s original deck. Not only is the bridge itself spectacular, but it offers panoramic views along the coast.
Development of the remainder of the Bass Coast trail is progressing slowly. Works are underway on the other side of Kilcunda to construct a deviation around a smaller trestle bridge. The trail has been fully cleared between Wonthaggi and Kilcunda but is very rough in sections. Cyclists should note that only the first 3.5 km from Wonthaggi (plus the Kilcunda trestle itself) are suitable for road bikes, a mountain bike is strongly recommended for the remainder of the trail. Some surfacing work has been undertaken in the Kilcunda area, but some sandy patches still remain.
Fences that were formerly across the trail has now been removed and replaced by gates and barriers.

Walhalla Goldfields Rail Trail
The site of Platina Station on the Walhalla Goldfields Railtrail has been developed with a replica station building having been constructed. Picnic tables have been installed at a number of locations along the line. These works have been achieved by Wron Wron Prison staff and prisoners.
Sadly there has since been vandalism in the Platina area with several commemorative plaques removed.
