Starting in Bairnsdale with activities beginning on Friday evening for those with more time to enjoy this fantastic region of Victoria. A great variety of activities will be provided along the Rail Trail at each participating township.
It was hoped that the restored V/Line train service would be operating in time for the weekend however this will not be the case. Melbourne visitors wanting to catch public transport can travel by train as far as Sale, but beyond Sale will need to catch a bus. Please contact V/Line to check capacity.
Activities include:
- Devonshire Tea at Nicholson.
- Handcrafts and other exhibitions of blacksmithing, spinning, sleeper cutting at Nowa Nowa.
- Boating on Tambo Lake, historical movie show, BBQ’s and music at Nowa Nowa Saturday night.
- Enticing bakeries & pubs, rivers and The Lakes plus the great Rail Trail and the new additional option of the former tramway along the Mississippi Creek walking and cycling path to Lakes Entrance.
Springfest 2003 will be a full-on weekend of fun and exercise, and there will be enough to even keep you there for a day or two more.
Accommodation options at many places in Bairnsdale (03 5152 4066), the caravan park (03 5156 8348) and pub (03 5156 8250) at Nicholson, B&B options and the pub at Bruthen, “Mingling Waters” cabins (03 5155 7247) and the Hotel/Motel (03 5155 7297) at Nowa Nowa.
