Register for news updatesArt Installations Project on Great Victorian Rail Trail
Small scale art work is a feature of quite a few rail trails in South Australia but not in other states.
So we welcome the news that Mitchell, Murrindindi and Mansfield Shire Councils have received $1.2 million funding from the Victorian Government’s Regional Tourism Investment Fund, to implement artistic installations along the Great Victorian Rail Trail (GVRT). The project aims to increase the number of people who use the trail and attract new visitor markets to the trail and surrounding towns, resulting in increased economic benefit for the region.
As the three councils progress the GVRT Art Installation Project, the level of engagement with businesses and community will be increasing. The project managers want to hear from the communities along the trail and rail trail users about their interest in the project, including their preferred artistic direction and art locations along the trail.
