Rode from Darwin to Coolalinga in 30-35 degrees. A head wind down and a super tail wind coming back.

A great ride, particularly when you get away from the Stuart Hwy and toward the Coolalinga end. Had to get a couple of Power Aids and a bag of lollies at the Coolalinga servo to make it back! 63kms all up. A great riding asset for those visiting or living in Darwin.

Well done to those that maintain the trail.

I rode this from Darwin to the end of the sealed section with a side trip to Howard Springs. It’s a top class trail with a smooth flat surface going almost dead straight. A side track with a top class bicycle bridge over Stuart Highway to Palmerston. If only all our Rail Trails were constructed this well.

I found the surface very smooth, clean and in good repair. Wide enough for other riders, runners and walkers to pass safely. The trip from Darwin City to Howard Springs took me 1.5 HRS. The waiting for traffic at the major intersections took a few minutes. There are a few signs to indicate the History of the Rail but more information is required at major or interesting locations. You have to leave the trail, but only a short distance to get drinks or food and these places can be easily seen from the trail. Overall, a great experience for a sixty plus gent from Victoria. Good cycling. Gary H.
