The 683 buses run every hour and all have 3 bike racks on the front. Rode the 40km trail from Warburton to Lilydale, stopping at the excellent Seville cafe for lunch. Trail was superb – one star off due to the excessive horse poo on the path. If horse riders can’t clean up afterwards horses should find another trail to mess.

Terrific ride, although challenging on the way back with strong winds in open sections.

The Alpine Hotel was excellent and the town itself was lovely with a beautiful walk along the Yarra River. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the only concern was crossing busy Warburton Highway near Yarra Junction. We were fortunate this was midweek, must be challenging on the weekend.

It was a very smooth surface to ride on. Plen5of towns and little towns on the way.

One highway crossing near Yarra Junction is a bit sketchy, with lots of traffic it can be challenging to cross the road. One day they will need to install a signalised pedestrian crossing.

It was great to see the wide variety of rail trail users, ever8feom people walking, jogging, cycling with little kids and the occassional horse.

Thanks to the short extension on the Yarra Valley Tail that opened on the weekend, you can now crack 100km on an up and back ride on that one and the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail. More if you take in the new mountain bike park

The trail surface should be the blueprint for all trails where possible as it’s flawless in construction and maintenance, then there’s the scenery with you really get to enjoy knowing the ground beneath you is secure. Mountains to one side, farmers on the other and regular intervals of towns where you can jump off and enjoy a break. Some of the old stations still exist with sheds and carriages, and took a break at the Seville station that has been superbly converted to a very successful cafe, and should also be showcased to show people that’s it’s possible for a business to thrive on these rail trails. Should be a carriage cafe at mid points on all trails where possible. Hills are easy gradients not many traffic points just loved the ride, thank you once again.

Had morning tea at the Billy Goat Hill Brasserie (highly recommended) before riding back to Yering.

The ride between Lilydale and Mount Evelyn is uphill (but only gradual, being a rail trail), so the ride back to Lilydale was little more than coasting with just a little pedalling.

So, looking forward to the trail to Yarra Glen being completed, but in the meantime the ride from Yering to Mount Evelyn and return is worth doing.

Autumn trees are turning. Completed Yarra junction to Warburton last week and Yarra junction to Mt Evelyn this week. Stunning trail. Well maintained could have more toilets along the trail.

Toilets at Lauching place on the track desperately needing a good clean.

On the Warburton ride we continued on through the caravan park and onto a beautiful trail along the Yarra. We stopped and had a picnic by the Yarra.

Very pleasant indeed with a well maintained trail. Currently a small tree across trail before Launching Place but easily negotiated one at a time. Love this trail.

This is a fantastic RT, and is very popular, especially on weekends. The surface is smooth, the views are great, and there are many little towns along the way to grab a bite. The interpretive signs and artworks at some locations give a good idea of the history of the railway and its importance to the communities adjacent to the line. Love the old railway carriage at Seville, with great coffee and meals. I just wish it was closer to my home, so I could ride it more often.

Wonderful views, plenty of places to stop. Very good surface, even after rain. Trail managers are great with a couple of fallen trees already attended to by the time we returned.
