This puts volunteer groups doing much out of the picture. Are we expecting too much of rail trails? Do they have to be all hot seal bitumen and new bridges? Let’s just get the trails open as quickly as possible. After the rails, sleepers and ballast were removed a couple of years ago, long sections were rideable and walkable. ( I know, I did much of the Jimboomba to Beaudesert section). Since then, neglect and signs forbidding entry have lead to overgrown conditions closing them again. Everyone runs scared of WH&S and Public Liability. Now aged 75, I fear I will never get to ride the whole Bethania to Beaudesert trail. Scenic Rim Council has done a wonderful job at the Beaudesert terminus but there needs to be urgent work to extend a workable trail out from the major centres of Logan Village, Jimboomba and Beaudesert. As seen with the BVRT and NRRT, people will use it, and local centres will benefit
